In partnership with the Trust for Public Land, the Outdoor Happiness Movement is proud to provide funds towards helping the Rock Creek Grant School celebrate their community culture and build a resilient future for Indigenous people.
The school serves 55 students in grades K-8, and their families, in the Lakota Oyate Tribe in the Standing Rock Indian Reservation. This unique schoolyard will provide an experience that will fill belonging to the cultural heritage. The schoolyard will house longhouse classrooms, restored meadows, Indigenous arts and places for students to dig, explore and create outside. It will also be open in the evenings and on the weekends to serve as a recreational and cultural hub for the greater community. The schoolyard is expected to fill a vital role for the entire community.
