Johnson Oak Park

Connecticut - Johnson Oak Park

Outdoor Happiness Movement has reached Connecticut! With shaded gathering spaces, a splash pad, a basketball court, a baseball and softball field, a community garden, a performance stage, sensory play areas, and a walking track, the Johnson Oak Park in Bridgeport, Connecticut is getting some major upgrades! What once was a run down 4 acre park will transform into a welcoming outdoor space for families to run, jump and play.

Since the new park and nature classroom conveniently sits adjacent to the Jettie D. Tisdale School and within a 10 minute walk for 3,500 residents, The Trust for Public Land offered students, teachers, and the community the chance to develop park plans that represents their needs. Quickly, local youth and residents immersed themselves in park design curriculum and created this park with a personal touch. OH! Movement is excited to be a part of this community inspired park!
