Kingman and Heritage Islands

Washington D.C. - Kingman and Heritage Islands

Northeast of Washington, D.C., on the Anacostia River are two island habitats perfect for finding outdoor happiness. Visitors can hike and bike nature trails with scenic waterfront vistas and explore more than 50 acres of plant and animal biodiversity. Heritage Island and parts of Kingman Island are managed by Living Classrooms, which offers experiential learning opportunities to underserved youth. McKee Foods is helping to support the initiative by making improvements to the area – removing asphalt, trailblazing, meadow planting and creating water access points for canoes and kayaks.
