Stafford Elementary

Tacoma, Washington

With the help of the Outdoor Happiness Movement, the Trust for Public Land has created nearly 300 community schoolyard projects and continues to lead the effort in changing asphalt playgrounds into vibrant green spaces. In 2021 and 2022, the TPL partnered with the Stafford Elementary School to help design a new playground and site improvements. Continuing on in its improvements, this space is expected to be transformed into a green space for students to enjoy during the school day, and for neighborhood space after school and on the weekends. This project will impact over 5,770 residents who live within a 10-mile walk of the school.
